weather update for tonight's screening

Due to the drippy, dreary, cold weather situation, we’ve pivoted tonight’s screening of THE THEIF COLLECTOR.

If you registered for this event, please check your email for an update and instructions on how to watch tonight’s film.

Join us in October to celebrate Arts Month and watch THE THIEF COLLECTOR.

In 1985, Willem de Kooning’s “Woman-Ochre,” one of the most valuable paintings of the 20th century, vanished into the Arizona desert after being cut from its frame at the University of Arizona Museum of Art. 32 years later, the $160 million painting was found hanging in the home of Jerry and Rita Alter in rural New Mexico. The Thief Collector takes a deep look at how, and why, this mild-mannered couple pulled off one of the greatest art heists of a generation, exploring the complicated dynamics of family, the contours of criminality, and just how far people will go to weave their own grandiose narratives.

The parking lot opens at 6:30 p.m., when we will welcome you with free POPCORN! We encourage attendees to TAILGATE and socialize before the film program begins at approximately 7:45 p.m.  Get settled in your vehicle, turn the radio up, and enjoy a great film on a great big screen under the stars. Alternatively, and weather permitting, we will set up a speaker system for sound, so bring a CAMP CHAIR and layers to enjoy the film al fresco.

RMWF Drive-in Cinema is located at the former Gazette Building (704 E. Colorado Ave, 80903).  Special thanks to Norwood Development Group, our presenting sponsor, for providing this space where we can continue to build community around film.
