Community Outreach

One of our core values is “community.”  Drawing from this value, we are committed to bringing film to diverse audiences who may not have access to these films or filmmakers. Around the Festival this includes

the Youth Outreach Program and Festival in the Community.

Festival in the Community

The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival is proud to expand our film screenings through Festival in the Community, where we host free screenings of select films in advance of the festival. It’s a chance to sneak a peek before the Festival, plus a great opportunity to introduce your friends to the wonderful and thought-provoking films the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film brings to the Pikes Peak region.

Youth Outreach

The Youth Outreach program targets one of the most under-served segments of our community — at-risk youth. Partnering with local high schools, approximately ten films are screened at each location prior to the Festival. Students complete projects in response to one of the films (drawing, painting, poem, creative writing, or additional research on an issue raised), and then attend a panel discussion with the guest filmmakers. This program creates an opportunity for these students to experience the art and power of documentary film in a meaningful and interactive context.

Festival in the Community

Join us for one of these free screenings in the two-weeks before our annual Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival. In collaboration with community partners around the Pikes Peak Region, Rocky Mountain Women’s Film brings a unique selection of films from the programming of this year’s Festival.

Youth Outreach

"The highlight of the RMWFF weekend for me was the Youth Outreach Program. I wasn’t prepared for the depth of thought, emotion, and expression that the teens offered during the interactive session in the high school auditorium. This program is the jewel of the festival, in my opinion.”
