Smithy & Dickie

In the 1940’s, Margo’s future husband Dickie, nicknamed her Smithy and wooed her with countless love letters for 6 years. Born in 1921, today Margo is still Great! And still gets a giggle out of these carefully preserved letters from 70 years ago. In the current unstoppable avalanche of digital communication, sometimes we find ourselves unable to even retrace an email from last week. We are left to wonder how will today’s precious memories survive their own rapid obsolescence…? Looking back at her Great-Aunt Margo’s love letters, director Hannah Quinn takes Smithy & Dickie’s love story as the source of inspiration for a warm and joyful film that makes us question the way we communicate with each other today and wonder what is the future of our precious memories.
