Through the lens

Please help us celebrate our birthday and support RMWF with a gift today!

Join us in the month of August

Through film, and the stories of women and others who are often unheard or unseen, we  foster connection and cultivate a more empathetic community.

Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival

37th Annual Festival oct 18-20, 2024
celebrating 38 years, oct 2025

It all started with two women and a great idea on the road back from the Telluride Film Festival in 1987. More than 30 years later, that idea has produced the longest running women’s film festival in North America! Thirty years of making a difference to people in our community. Thirty years of learning, of discovery, of exploration, of experiencing and of celebrating the drive, spirit and diversity of women.

The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival honors films and filmmakers that present the world as women experience it, showcasing documentary, narrative, shorts, and animated films that are thought-provoking, enriching, and encourage both global awareness and personal growth.

Support RMWF

As a film fan, we are inviting you to join the Circle of Support.

More than 30 years ago a group of women created the original Circle of Support, providing the financial foundation for our cornerstone event, the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival. Since that time, we have grown to be more than a film festival, hosting exciting events and screenings throughout the year. Funding from the Circle of Support allows Rocky Mountain Women’s Film to provide year-round programming.

Circle of Support Members get access to private, behind-the-scenes events, early festival tickets, and the knowledge that they are the reason we’re able to create community through film and amplify the voices of women filmmakers.

Learn how RMWF has grown over the last 35 years!

Film has the power to influence change, provoke thought and encourage empathy. And without filmmakers there would be no film. For 35 years, RMWF has hosted hundreds of female filmmakers, who have been central to our success as we’ve watched their careers flourish and grow. This year, as we take time to reflect upon the legacy of RMWF, we want to celebrate those who have come alongside us. May 13-29, join us as we honor filmmaker and friend Lisa F. Jackson with a powerful schedule of her body of work (both virtually and in-person) and a pinnacle event with Lisa as the guest of honor. Click here to learn more about Lisa and her body of work.

Made possible by the Lori Cohen Endowment, a RMWF Legacy fund.

More than a Festival

Rocky Mountain Women’s Film has provided more than twenty events this year ranging from free office screenings, outdoor film, award-winning shorts, and exclusive events with filmmakers.

Each year we strive to share stories through film that compel, entertain, touch, inspire, and provoke us to become a more empathetic and connected community. Check out our year-round programming, featured events, and special pop-up events happening each month.

Every month Rocky Mountain Women’s Film hosts a screening in our office to share a film or films from our vast library with both new fans and seasoned cinefiles.

We highlight a feature-length film or a collection of short films from a previous Festival pulling from the Madelyn Osur Film Library. These screenings are free and open to the public. (Seating is limited, so plan to reserve your space in advance!)
