Festival in the Community: Manitou Art Center

The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival is proud to expand our film screenings with Festival in the Community, where we host free screenings of select films leading up to the festival. It’s a chance to sneak a peek before the Festival, plus a great opportunity to introduce your friends to the wonderful and thought-provoking films the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film brings to the Pikes Peak region.

The following films are presented in partnership with the Manitou Art Center.

RECLAIM
Directed by Geeta Gandbhir & Justyn Ah Chong
RECLAIM tells the story of young Honor as he follows in the footsteps of his older brother Hanalei in learning the Hawaiian tradition of hula. The brothers are proud of their role in reclaiming Hawaiian heritage, through dance as well as the meaningful power of language and custom.

NOBUKO MIYAMOTO: A SONG IN MOVEMENT
Directed by: Quyên Nguyen-Le and Tadashi Nakamura
After decades of groundbreaking cultural work that unites communities and sets the bar for Asian American storytelling, Miyamoto reflects on a life that has bridged coasts, industries, families, and history. Featuring rare archival footage, NOBUKO MIYAMOTO: A SONG IN MOVEMENT is a story of a changing community told through the singular life of one of its most beloved storytellers.
