Rocky Mountain Women’s Film, celebrating its 35th year as part of the arts and culture scene of Colorado Springs, is presenting a screening of Academy Award-winning SUMMER OF SOUL under the stars at Monument Valley Triangle Park on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten–until now. SUMMER OF SOUL shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.
This event is FREE and open to the public. Join us at 6:30pm for music and food trucks (picnic baskets welcome), before we start the film program at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.).
