Behind the Scenes with Jessica Yu and Ava Saltzman

Join us for a conversation with Oscar-winning director and author Jessica Yu and her daughter Ava Jinying Salzman. We have had the honor of screening six of Jessica’s films at the Festival – more than any other filmmaker. Ava is a Harvard College student studying conservation biology, and has been making comics professionally for the past five years.  Listen in as Jessica and Ava share how they have influenced each other’s work and what it means to be an Asian American storyteller during these times. We will kick off the evening with a screening of Jessica’s 2009 short film, THE KINDA SUTRA, featuring a then seven year old Ava!

In honor of our mother/daughter pairing, we encourage our members to invite their own mothers (and/or fathers), and daughters (and/or sons) to attend this gathering.
