Film is for everyone

Film is one of the most accessible, inclusive, and engaging forms of art. Film can transport us to another world. Film can shine a light on issues. Film can envelope us with joy and introduce us to new cultures and ideas. At the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival, we want to cultivate the joy of experiencing film and create shared experiences for all who attend.

Venues, blocks, & passes, oh my!

Planning your festival

We know festival planning can seem overwhelming.

We’ve curated the best way to plan an unforgettable festival this year.

01.Timing is everything

Many long-time film fans and local cinephiles take full advantage of all the weekend has to offer, watching as many films as the schedule allows. Other people prefer to dip in and out, sprinkling in other activities with their film viewing. However you choose to fest, we have a pass or ticket option for you to enjoy the Film Festival at your own pace.

You are all in

02.Find your must-see films

You are your own best curator! Imagine going to a five star restaurant where everything on the menu is super tasty. That doesn’t mean you are going to like everything  which is why you read through all the offerings before ordering what best suits your palate. The exact same applies to selecting your films for the weekend. Every film has something to offer, but some will speak to you more than others.

Selecting your Schedule lineup

03.Pick Your Extras

It just isn’t a festival without some festive activities to complement your film watching! Make sure to build in some time to relax and recharge, whether it’s by enjoying opening night drinks, an after party downtown, or just taking a break from film-watching to enjoy our signature coffee and cookie break.

+ plus pass

Do you love post-film Q&A's with the filmmaker? Then you will love the intimate theater and extended filmmaker conversations in the Screening Room on Saturday.

Priority and guaranteed seating for the Film Screening Room will be given to attendees with the +PLUS Pass. Other passholders will be given access to this venue, but only after +PLUS passholders have been seated and if space remains available.

Saturday Topic
OCTOBER 19, 1:15PM

DOCUMENTARY STORYTELLING: STRIKING THE RIGHT BALANCE

This forum challenges the myth of documentary objectivity, exploring how filmmakers balance objectivity with subjectivity, entertainment with education, and personal with social issues. Featuring women directors, it highlights the challenges of centering underrepresented voices while maintaining authenticity. Attendees will gain insights into how balanced storytelling enhances audience engagement and deepens understanding of documentary films’ social impact.

Sunday Topic
OCTOBER 20, 1:15 PM

FILM AS HEALING: TELLING HISTORY, TRAUMA, AND RESILIENCE IN WOMEN’S STORIES

This forum explores film’s power to process trauma, make difficult histories relevant, and highlight resilience in women’s experiences. Filmmakers will discuss using storytelling as a tool for healing and empowerment, turning painful experiences into narratives that inspire reflection and social change. Attendees will gain insights into balancing the portrayal of trauma with sensitivity while emphasizing the strength of often untold stories.
