Sophie Harris

Sophie Harris (Producer) is an Emmy®-nominated documentary film producer who works closely with directors and editors to manage projects, lead research, and shape content. In the field, Sophie often gets deeply involved as a sound recordist and cinematographer as well. Sophie was nominated for a 2008 Emmy® Award for her research on the legacy of polio for the Oscar®-nominated short film “The Final Inch.” She helped to produce and edit “How to Die in Oregon,” which won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance and received an Emmy® nomination for Documentary in 2011. On “American Winter,” HBO’s highly publicized film about families in economic crisis, Sophie led research and relationships with all the subjects, who were later invited to testify before the U.S. Congress in 2013. Her other film credits include “Saving Pelican 895” (HBO), “One Last Hug: Three Days at Grief Camp” (HBO) and “Open Your Eyes” (HBO/Vermilion Films.)

Sophie has worked as a producer with numerous production companies, produced films on five continents and all over the United States. She has also worked with the Gates Foundation, CNN, the PBS documentary showcase P.O.V. and the Smithsonian.

She is a graduate of New York University and Brown University.
