Miguel, David, and Danielle are three young friends who grew up in Meadows Park, Colorado Springs, where they faced gang violence, family tragedy, and poverty. Their stories have shaped them into who they are today – resilient individuals who are working to break the cycle and give back to their community.
This short documentary is just one part of a community initiative. Throughout the filming of the film, Miguel, David, and Danielle also took pictures of their lives so they could share their own perspectives. When the film was finished, we hosted a gallery of their photos and a screening of their film for the community, where we sold their photos and raised over $760 for the Meadows Park Community Center’s after school program. This event brought people from all over Colorado Springs and gave Miguel, David, and Danielle the spotlight to tell their stories.
