Filmmaker Notes:

We chose to make this film because Catherine inspired us and we knew she’d do the same for others. Catherine defied so much of what was expected at her age. She was a 95-year old living completely independently, a world champion powerlifter, and she was vibrant and healthy. She also had spent a life deeply in love with her husband of 61-years, a man who had cheered her on in her weightlifting feats until his death. Watching Catherine return to powerlifting after mourning his loss, the uniqueness of their relationship struck us. Together their love defied typical gender roles and age norms and Catherine was now continuing to defy this all on her own. We made this film because we wanted people to know Catherine, to feel her joy, and challenge their own ways of thinking about what we are capable of achieving in our lives as we get older.
