As an ongoing commitment to build community around film, we welcome you to explore a catalog of titles that have been shown at the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival over the last 35 years. These films celebrate the drive, spirit and diversity of women, while sharing the stories and experiences of those often unheard or unseen.
Sin by Silence
Inside the California Institution for Women, the first inmate initiated goup in U.S. prison history, shatters the misconceptions of domestic violence. Convicted Women Against Abuse (CWAA) was created in 1989 to help women inside prison break the silence about abuse and learn more about what they needed to do to help others stop the cycle of violence.
Seed: A Love Story
In 1940 Berlin, Lilly Wurst, Aryan hausfrau who has a picture of the Fuhrer on the wall along side a medal for German motherhood, falls in love with a vivacious female member of the Jewish underground. Archival footage, love letters, and photos are fantastic, but nothing equals the sight of 82-year-old Lilly talking about the one true love of her life.
Speaking in Tongues
In a time where 31 states have passed English Only initiatives, one urban school district is exploring the notion that speaking a foreign language can be a national asset. As we witness the students’ journey, we see how speaking more than one language changes them, their families, their communities, and maybe even the world.
Speaking In Strings
A moving and often humorous story about one of the most unique and gifted musicians in the world violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. Her unorthodox, passionate delivery, her swagger and unconventional attire earned her the nickname”the bad girl of the violin . . .” Nominated for Best Feature Length Documentary, 2000 Academy Awards.
Southern Sex, The
This film takes a close look at the reality behind the stereotypes and myths of the Southern belle and coal miner’s daughter as twelve Kentucky women share their intimate thoughts.
Something Within Me
This film centers around a South Bronx Elementary School where the curriculum is based on the music program. A joyful film about a unique way to teach.
Smith Family, The
Even after the devote Mormon Steve Smith contracted AIDS from a relationship with a man, his wife, Kim, remained devoted and kept the family together and they thrived. In the end, it is simply a love story.
Sister Wife
DoriAnn is a Mormon fundamentalist who shares a husband with her younger biological sister. During a private bathing meditation and candid interviews, DoriAnn explores the surprisingly universal challenges of her marriage and reveals an unexpected explanation for why she chooses polygamy.
Small Wonders/Fiddlefest
Inner-city youngsters are inspired to develop self-esteem and discipline by their violin teacher. The film follows their development from the streets of East Harlem to the stage of Carnegie Hall, where they perform with Isaac Stern, Itzhak Perlman and other great violinists.
Library Policy
Films are available to borrow for all local residents of the Pikes Peak Region. Up to THREE FILMS (3) may be checked out at one time for up to TEN (10) DAYS.

Reproduction or public showings of these films, in whole or in part, are strictly prohibited. If you are interested in showing a film to a larger audience, please contact RMWF to make arrangements with the appropriate distributor and/or filmmaker.
