As an ongoing commitment to build community around film, we welcome you to explore a catalog of titles that have been shown at the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival over the last 37 years. These films celebrate the drive, spirit and diversity of women, while sharing the stories and experiences of those often unheard or unseen.

Rita Mahtoubian Is Not a Terrorist
When Iranian-born Rita Mahtoubian sets out to change her life from ordinary to extraordinary she accidentally captures the attention of a homeland security agent in this satirical fairytale about romance, terrorism and trying to be a better person.
Rock Bottom
After having endured an abusive relationship with a young man, Becca found her life falling apart and was hospitalized in Denver for depression and anxiety. Her film ROCK BOTTOM chronicles her journey back to life, while sharing unvarnished accounts of the abuse. Interviews with friends and family (and even her own therapist) provide a multi-dimensional account of domestic violence among teenagers.

Rúbaí
The First Holy Communion is fast approaching but as an atheist, eight-year-old Rúbaí refuses to be a part of it. Rúbaí faces emotional blackmail, religious and philosophical debate and out and out intolerance in today’s supposedly diverse and modern Ireland.

Friendship grew between two married women who were community activists and raised children together. A film about love, courage, and the price two women paid to be themselves ?

Saint Misbehavin’: The Wavy Gravy Movie
Beginning with Woodstock ‘99, director Michelle Esrick has spent ten years documenting the life of Wavy Gravy. Saint Misbehavin’ journeys from the hills of California to the Himalayan Mountains to reveal the life of this one of a kind servant to humanity. The film blends Wavy’s own words with magical stories from an extraordinary array of fellow travelers both cultural and counter-cultural, revealing the man behind the clown’s grin and the fool’s clothing.

Sami Blood
A teenage girl is taken from her home and family and sent to a state school where indigenous students are converted into acceptable members of Swedish society.

Saving Luna
In this true story, a baby male killer whale gets separated from his family. When he seeks companionship from people he becomes beloved. To Native Americans he is the spirit of a chief; to conservationists he is a cause; to scientists he is trouble; to officials he is a danger.

Scarlet Road
As a vocal advocate for everyone’s right to sexual expression, Sydney sex worker Rachel Wotton is passionate about providing people with disabilities the opportunity to experience sexual intimacy. She helped set up an advocacy group, runs workshops for carers and sex workers, and is studying for a masters degree in her spare time. The indefatigable blonde also provides a specialised service to her clients, two of whom, John and Mark, permit the cameras in to record their most intimate moments. Their pride and pleasure makes this one of the most uplifting films you’ll see all year.

When a heart broken mom asked the world to help honor the memory of her beloved son, the loss of one became the journey of many.

School Life
Two inspiring teachers working at the only boarding school in Ireland for children ages 7 to 12 are followed for a year, as they begin to prepare for the end of their tenure.
Library Policy
Films can be accessed in two ways. Films are available to borrow for all local residents of the Pikes Peak Region at the RMWF office. Up to THREE FILMS (3) may be checked out at one time for up to TEN (10) DAYS. Films can also be streamed online. Just click on a film you are interested in and you will be taken to its dedicated page. Once there you will see the link “Just Watch” where you can access free streaming of the film or be given options for streaming on other platforms.
These DVDs are the property of Rocky Mountain Women’s Film. Use is authorized for private home screenings only. Reproduction or public showings of these films, in whole or in part, are strictly prohibited. If you are interested in showing a film to a larger audience, please contact RMWF to make arrangements with the appropriate distributor and/or filmmakers.
